Position: Patient Service Representative PRN
Job Overview:
The Patient Service Representative (PSR) is responsible for greeting visitors, registering patients, and performing a variety of administrative tasks. The role involves gathering patient information, accurately entering data into the system, and ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed. The PSR also facilitates communication with patients, payers, and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Greet and register patients by interviewing them or their family members to collect pertinent information, and accurately input data into the system. Ensure that all required signatures are obtained for necessary paperwork and routed to the appropriate departments.
+ Communicate with payers to pre-authorize and financially screen clinical and outpatient procedures. Collaborate with the centralized scheduler and other departments to schedule procedures and confirm that financial requirements are met.
+ Collect payments from patients at the time of service and/or coordinate with financial specialists as needed. Balance daily petty cash and ensure receipts are issued for payments.
+ Prepare daily provider schedules and other statistical reports as required.
+ Schedule appointments, including walk-ins, to ensure efficient patient and provider flow and minimize wait times for patients.
+ Manage incoming calls, direct them to the appropriate staff, take and deliver messages, and conduct daily patient confirmation calls.
+ Process incoming and outgoing medical record requests. Maintain a log of copies made and send records as requested. Ensure that all release requests comply with HIPAA policies and include necessary patient signatures.
+ Perform general office duties, including ordering supplies, distributing mail, requesting maintenance services, faxing, copying, managing files, and organizing work and patient areas.
+ Safeguard patient health information by securing work areas when unattended.
+ Participate in required performance improvement initiatives and Quality Assurance (QAPI) activities.
+ Regularly review and update Family Medicine Network policies and procedures as needed.
Qualifications:

+ Two years of general office experience or relevant education.
Education and Experience:
+ High School Diploma or equivalent.
+ Two years of previous medical office experience preferred.
+ RQI Responder certification (if applicable).
