The Patient Services Representative coordinates and participates in a variety of duties associated with the daily clinic preparation process, patient identification, patient check-in, charge posting, cash management, and basic patient appointment scheduling. Conveys a positive image and provides information to ensure patients' needs are met. As a team member, you must enjoy learning and supporting multiple departments within the organization, be able to work independently, and have reliable transportation.\n\n\n

QUALIFICATIONS:\n\nAssociate's Degree in Related Field or Experience in Lieu of Education - Three (3) years of experience in an office\/customer service environment is an acceptable substitution for an Associate's Degree\n\n

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:\n\nPrevious public contact position.\nBasic computer skills.\nExperience using fax machines, copiers, and other general office equipment.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:\n\nSuccessful completion of medical terminology course within one (1) year of start date in position.\nReliable transportation\nBilingual in Spanish preferred\n\n
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:\n\nStrong communication skills; \nObserves high standard of confidentiality; \nMultiple tasks concurrently; \nMemory for details; \nAbility to prioritize and complete tasks under stressful conditions with interruptions; \nAbility to accept and implement change and \nFunction in instances where decisions are not always apparent.\n\n\n

ESSENTIAL DUTIES\/RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nCoordinates and participates in a variety of duties associated with the daily clinic preparation process including patient identification, patient check-in\/out, charge posting, cash management, patient appointment scheduling, patient registration and account set-up, and phone calls.\nCompetent in the telephone system takes and delivers messages to physicians, nurses, and others. Reports medical information obtained from patients and referring physicians accurately, completely, and in a timely manner. Distributes all messages according to practice communication standards.\nServes as a role model by conducting themself in a responsible, professional manner.\nManage all incoming patient care requests related to in-basket activities, referrals, work queue activity, and incoming telephone calls.\nProficient with insurance coverage rules. Proficient with coverage and rules that apply to eligibility, network coverage, and benefits.\nSuccessful completion of mandatory insurance training and ongoing competency refreshers.\nCompetent to initiate and secure prior authorizations as needed.\nAssist with PSR coverage in multiple departments (obtain knowledge of each dept and scheduling specifics)\nTravels to multiple departments in the role, as needed\nFlexible with last-minute assignment changes.\nMay be asked to support pop-up\/temporary departments, as needed\n\n
