Description Join our dynamic Emergency Department team as a Patient Registration Specialist! We are seeking a detail-oriented, compassionate professional who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment and is dedicated to providing excellent patient service. This role plays a vital part in ensuring a smooth registration process and a positive patient experience. This position offers a regular weekday schedule with occasional weekend shifts. Schedule: + Monday through Friday: 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM + Rotating Saturdays (as scheduled) Key Responsibilities: + Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. + Accurately collect, verify, and enter patient information into the system (e.g., demographic details, insurance verification, and consent forms). + Coordinate patient check-in and registration processes in an efficient manner. + Provide patients with clear instructions and respond promptly to inquiries regarding their appointments, insurance, or billing. + Collaborate with the Emergency Department team to streamline patient flow and minimize wait times. + Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations. + Communicate effectively with insurance companies to verify coverage and address pre-authorization requirements. + Handle administrative tasks, including managing patient documentation, scheduling follow-ups, and resolving billing discrepancies. + Assist in triage situations by prioritizing registration based on patient urgency. Requirements Qualifications: + High school diploma or equivalent (required); some college or healthcare-related coursework is a plus. + Previous experience in patient registration, medical office administration, or a similar role preferred. + Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on customer service. + Proficient computer skills, including experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems. + Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure in a high-volume environment. + Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance processes, and HIPAA compliance (preferred). + Availability to work rotating Saturdays as part of the schedule.
