This non-clinical staff position will have an impact on patient safety by minimizing falls and harm to self. **Job Description:** **Education Preferred** **: High School Diploma or equivalent** **LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS** **LIFE SUPPORT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:** Basic Life Support **POPULATION SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:** Adolescent, adult and geriatric **JOB FUNCTIONS** As part of the Patient Care Services team, this position performs the following tasks under the direction of a RN: + Watches over patients that have been designated as a risk-to-self. + Assists patients with walking. + Effectively communicates with all members of the patient care team throughout the shift and completes a thorough and comprehensive handoff with the other Patient Safety Associates and RNs. + Assists in the patient’s meal and nourishment, by setting up trays, feeding the patient and/or assisting the patient in eating. + Engages patients and family members in conversation and provides basic emotional support. + Assists patients in the set up of personal and oral hygiene needs and dressing. + Keeps the room clean and tidy to improve the patient’s and family member’s experience. **As a health care organization, we have a responsibility to do everything in our power to care for and protect our patients, our colleagues and our communities.
