Patient Transport
Job Summary

Transports all patient populations to and from examinations and treatments. Performs general errands and other routine duties including cleaning equipment, securing supplies, and other tasks as required. Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care. Adheres to unit procedures wherever transport services rendered.
 

Essential Functions

Prepares patient for transport and performs passive and active identification to ensure all patients are properly identified before transporting.

Transports all patients and equipment to and from testing and procedure areas including inpatient, outpatient, emergency and high risk Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Effectively communicates with medical employees to ensure all required medical supplies and medications are appropriately transported with the patient including the administering of oxygen when required.

Responsible for the timely discharge of patients throughout the hospital.

Under the direction of medical employees and/or Registered Nurse (RN), assists in providing support in toileting ambulatory patients.

Cleans and disinfects equipment according to established policies and procedures. Maintains clean work areas and returns equipment to appropriate department. Communicates malfunctioning equipment/instruments to appropriate department/unit staff.

Qualifications 

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent

CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Corewell Health Grand Rapids and Pennock Hospital 90 Days Or

CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross Corewell Health Grand Rapids and Pennock Hospital 90 Days

Preferred

A course of sixteen weeks to one year in baking education and cake decorating techniques

Vocational/Technical courses in food preparation
