Patient Transport Lead
We are so glad you are interested in joining Sutter Health! **Organization:** MPHS-Mills-Peninsula Medical Center **Position Overview:** Oversees and organizes the functions of the Patient Transport team. Supports department leaders in training new staff. Coordinates in-house patient transportation requests, while providing safe, timely and courteous patient transportation service throughout the facility for patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, Foley catheters, and other complex equipment. Delivers deceased patients to the mortuary, following policy and procedure. Gains confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent job performance, attentive monitoring and care, and effective communication. **Job Description** : _These Principal Accountabilities, Requirements and Qualifications are not exhaustive, but are merely the most descriptive of the current job. Management reserves the right to revise the job description or require that other tasks be performed when the circumstances of the job change (for example, emergencies, staff changes, workload, or technical development)._ **JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:** PATIENT TRANSPORT SERVICES: • Performs all duties of the Patient Transporter role and functions as a resource for the department staff. • Assists with coordinating services, prioritizing assignments and workflow, and promoting situational decision-making/problem solving. • Provides safe and efficient transport and escort of patients to and from treatment areas and operating rooms according to policy and procedure. • Locates, obtains, and prepares wheelchairs and other transport equipment to departments upon request and as needed. • Communicates with patients in a clear and professional manner to ensure cooperation and alleviate fear and anxiety. • Operates and troubleshoots diverse equipment necessary for job performance. • Ensures that routine and priority tasks are completed within established departmental time frames. • Assists with orientation and training of new employees to the department • Coordinates and assigns staff between units when needed. • May provide input/feedback to the department manager for the preparation of employee performance appraisals CLERICAL: • Performs general clerical tasks, such as answering phones and interacting with customers and patients on a daily basis. • Prepares and completes accurate, job related documentation, including maintaining a detailed log of transportation requests and assignments. SAFETY: • Maintains a clean, neat, and safe working environment, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment after use. • Promotes patient safety by maintaining appropriate safety measures (side rails, patient alignment, safety straps, wheelchair locks). • Inspects and calibrates equipment accordingly for proper operation and records the quality control (QC) results, reporting any malfunctions or patient injuries to the supervisor. COMPLIANCE: • Performs job responsibilities in compliance with department standards, policies, and procedures, as well as local, state and federal regulatory agencies to deliver the highest level of service. • Maintains strictest confidence of all patient protected health information (PHI) and protects all PHI from accidental, intentional, or inappropriate disclosure. **EDUCATION:** HS Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) **CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:** BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider **TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:** 4 years of recent relevant experience. **SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:** Demonstrated knowledge of various patient transport policies, procedures and equipment used in the treatment of patients with varying conditions. Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Possess written and verbal communications skills to communicate with fellow team members, supervisors, patients, and other hospital personnel. Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies and procedures to achieve objectives and meet deadlines. Pay Range is $34.93 to $41.91 / hour _The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
