The Patient Transporter: Transports patients to and from various diagnostics and therapeutic areas in the Main Hospital Fulfill responsibilities as assigned and/or float basis in response to inpatient’ needs across all departments of the Hospital. Picks up specimen/labs from units and delivers to labs and blood bank. Picks up blood from blood bank and delivers it to units. Perform other duties that further the customer service needs of the unit, such as answering ASCOM phones and removing empty beds and stretchers from unit hallways upon request. Ascertains patient name, destination, mode of travel, time and other data, following written or verbal instructions. Assists the unit nursing staff in transferring patients in and out of bed onto wheelchairs and stretchers and lifting patients with Hoyer lift as well as patient care on units. Respond to emergent and urgent patient and operational issues. Prepares, inspects and cleans transportation equipment prior to transporting patients. Reports incidents and any unsafe equipment to the Transportation Manager for maintenance and repair. Transports deceased patients to the morgue. Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are related and appropriate to the position and area. A qualified candidate will possess: High School Graduate or General Equivalent Diploma (G.E.D.) Six (6) months of responsible work experience in a Hospital or Medical Care Facility preferred.
