Job Overview:

The Patient Transporter is responsible for transporting in-patients via wheelchair, stretcher, and/or bed to designated test areas within hospital adhering to all safety and departmental policies, procedures and protocols.

Qualifications:

Required:

Ability to speak, write, read and understand the Englishlanguage required Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs independentlyAttend all mandatory hospital and departmental training

Preferred:

High School graduate or equivalent preferred Previous experience helpful but not necessary

Certifications and Licenses Required:

CPR Certification required within 30 days of hire

Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions remove when posting):

Shift Working: 12:00pm-8:00pm

Essential Functions:

Transports patients to and from all areas in the Hospital complex including patient careunits and Diagnostic testing areasReport to work every day dressed professionally in uniformResponds to call on Radio from dispatches and or other staff pertaining to patienttransport or messenger needsKeep transport equipment clean and ready for use. Report all malfunctioningequipment to managerUse proper body mechanics in transporting patients. Properly identifies (ID bands &asking name) patient prior to starting transportReports to Manager upon arrival at assigned area as well as reporting on completedcalls so as to receive next assignment. Immediately reports any delays or unusual circumstances to theManagerMaintains necessary records of transportation/messenger activity includingname/item, the time of departure and the time of arrival to designated areaOther duties and tasks as assign by Department AdministrationCan carry, push, lift, pull a minimum of 50 pounds. If employee finds weight beyond 50 pounds excessive, then reports same to supervisor and does not attempt to lift on own
