Job Overview:
In this key role, the Transporter moves patients within the hospital network in wheelchairs and stretchers from time of admission until discharge.

Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent requiredPreferred:
Hospital patient transport experience preferredCertifications and Licenses Required:
Basic Life Support (BLS) requiredScheduling Requirements:

Assists nursing personnel in moving patients into chair or onto stretcherCleans and sanitizes transport equipmentDemonstrates and performs lateral lifting in a safe mannerDemonstrates the ability to identify what the patients educational needs areFollows appropriate patient identification procedure to assure transport of proper patientMoves equipment and furniture into and out of patient s room to permit transport equipment to be moved within patient s roomNotifies dispatcher of completion of assignment to receive further instructionNotifies responsible personnel of patient s arrival and delivers patients medical chart to appropriate area within the receiving unitReports and identifies any suspected transport equipment malfunction for needed repairs to supervisor to ensure patient safetyResponds to various request for wheelchairs and stretchers by locating equipment and delivering it to the requesting unitResponsible for monitoring of O2 flow meter to ensure adequate O2 flow during patient transportReturns transport equipment to proper area to ensure fire and safety regulationsAdditional Information:
