Job Overview:

The Patient Transporter ensures safe patient handling and moves patients within the hospital from time of admission until discharge. Regular attendance and punctuality are required to carry out the essential functions of this position. Candidates for this role must be able to handle a fast paced and physical environment.

Qualifications:

Required:

Successful completion of site personnel general orientationSuccessful completion of department orientationSocial and Communication skills

Preferred:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Scheduling Requirements:

6:30am-3:00pmDays vary with a rotation of weekends and holidays requiredPart Time

Essential Functions:

Assist patients in and out of beds with the support of a nurse or PCTEnsures patients are comfortable and safe during transitTransport patients to and from appropriate units or Imaging Modalities within expected time framesMaintains regular and open communications with Transport Dispatcher and utilizes the automated system in a timely and accurate manner to notify of receipt of task, changes or delays in transport, and completion of tasks to assist with patient throughputAssist with bed management throughout the hospital such as organizing the beds, cleaning the beds, removing oxygen tanks once the beds are no longer in useFollows established isolation protocol in use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and hand washing hygieneTransporter must always use two patient identifiers to correctly identify patientMust sign in and out of logbookMust print ticket to rideMust notify nursing staff when patient arrives on the unit
