Patient Transporter - York Hospital - PRN (as needed) - Day

Schedule:
PRN (as needed)
Weekdays 4 to 8-hour shifts
Every other weekend 8-hour shift
Every third holiday 8-hour shift

General Summary

Performs activities related to transportation of patients. Follows established safety guidelines and uses appropriate devices when transporting patients. Provides messenger services on request

Essential Functions:

Transports patients to and from clinical, ancillary and support department areas as directed. Assists clinical personnel in transferring patients to or from beds, chairs, wheelchairs or stretchers using appropriate body mechanics to perform patient lifts. Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.

Common Expectations:

Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Participates in educational programs and inservice meetings. Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation. Performs dispatching duties such as receiving transport requests, dispatching available transporters based on established priorities, coordinating transports to minimize delays and maintaining appropriate documentation.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

High School Diploma or GED Required

Work Experience:

Less than 1 year Relevant experience. Required

Licenses:
