Position Overview
The Payment Recovery & Reconciliation Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely reconciliation of lockbox payments, working closely with both Accounting and Treasury teams. This individual serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for all lockbox-related tasks, understanding and improving existing processes, and ensuring that all reconciliations align with company policies and regulatory requirements.
What You’ll Do
+ Lockbox Reconciliation: Manage daily, weekly, and monthly lockbox reconciliation activities, ensuring accuracy in payment application and transaction processing.
+ Payment Research and Issue Resolution: Investigate discrepancies between lockbox deposits and customer accounts. Collaborate with the accounting and Treasury teams to resolve issues efficiently and effectively.
+ Cross-Department Collaboration: Partner with accounting, Treasury, and other stakeholders to understand and document processes, helping to streamline operations and minimize discrepancies.
+ Process Improvement: Analyze existing lockbox reconciliation processes and recommend improvements or automation opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
+ Subject Matter Expertise (SME): Act as the go-to expert for all lockbox-related inquiries, providing training and guidance to team members on best practices, policies, and procedures.
+ Reporting and Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all reconciliations, issues, resolutions, and adjustments. Provide regular updates and reports to management on reconciliation status and trends.
+ Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure all lockbox reconciliation activities comply with internal policies, industry standards, and relevant regulations. Identify potential areas of risk and escalate as needed.
+ Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and updates related to payment processing, lockbox functions, and relevant regulatory changes.
What You’ll Bring to Zelis
+ Proven experience in performing reconciliations, preferably in the payment recovery, accounting, or Treasury fields.
+ Strong understanding of lockbox processing, cash application, and payment reconciliation processes.
+ Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues efficiently.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other reconciliation or financial software tools.
+ Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including accounting, Treasury, and customer service departments.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and succinctly.
+ Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
+ Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
+ Highly organized and able to work independently while managing detailed tasks.
+ Strong customer service orientation with the ability to handle sensitive payment issues discreetly.
Location and Workplace Flexibility
We have offices in Atlanta GA, Boston MA, Morristown NJ, Plano TX, St. Louis MO, St. Petersburg FL, and Hyderabad, India. We foster a hybrid and remote friendly culture, and all our employee's work locations are based on the needs of the position and determined by the Leadership team. In-office work and activities, if applicable, vary based on the work and team objectives in accordance with Company policies.
