Payroll Accountant
Description We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for a Payroll Accountant in Ridgeland, South Carolina. In this role, you will handle a range of tasks related to payroll accounting, including generating and reviewing payroll, maintaining payroll databases, and processing special payments. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all payroll procedures meet federal and state requirements. Responsibilities: • Oversee the generation and review of payroll to ensure its accuracy prior to processing • Maintain and manage databases and files associated with payroll • Handle special payment processes such as payroll corrections, Paid Time Off payouts, and employee advances • Set up payroll deductions for benefits within ADP based on employee elections and waiting periods, and transmit funds to benefit providers • Ensure the accuracy of employee data, including additional earnings and time and attendance data • Stay informed about wage and hour laws to ensure all payroll procedures are compliant with guidelines and federal and state requirements • Conduct audits of employee benefit status on a monthly basis, including payment of insurance premiums and payments • Identify any payroll or accounting discrepancies and ensure they are promptly resolved • Prepare employee productivity reports as part of accounting duties • Populate Excel templates with necessary payroll information to assist with getting financials submitted into QuickBooks • Calculate monthly payments for commission and bonus payments • Assist with special reports requested by the management team or auditors. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Payroll Accountant or in a similar role • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is a must-have • Experience with ADP - Financial Services and ADP Workforce Now is required • Familiarity with Ceridian and Concur software is desirable • Experience in 401k - RRSP Administration is necessary • Knowledge of About Time software would be beneficial • Strong understanding of Accounting Functions is essential • Proficiency in Accrual Accounting is expected • Auditing experience would be a significant advantage Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
