Description Robert Half is seeking a Payroll Accountant for a long-term contract employment opportunity in Portland, Oregon. As a Payroll Accountant with this local organization, you will be expected to complete payroll tax returns, complete payroll reconciliations and complete extensive payroll reports and forecasts. Responsibilities: • Completing Local, State and Federal Payroll Tax compliance, including reconciling and preparing appropriate filings. • Handling Workers' Comp and 3rd party disability payments • Developing and preparing comprehensive reports, analyses and forecasting. • Reconciling payroll-related general ledger accounts, payroll taxes and bank reconciliations. • Working with pension and/or retirement plans. Requirements • Proficiency in Workday Payroll and/or ADP is essential for this role. • Background in GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and applying those principles to payroll processing and audits. • Significant payroll accounting experience for a large company (5+ years). • Government (public) payroll experience a plus. • Experience reconciling payroll-related general ledger accounts, payroll taxes and bank reconciliations. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations. • Experience with Workers' Comp and 3rd party disability payments. • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field.
