OverviewThis position provides accounting services to ensure the accurate and timely recording of payroll and benefits.
Responsibilities Ensures the completeness and accuracy of recording payroll expense and related accruals to the GLResponsible for the interfacing of payroll activity and balances into the GL; collaborates with IT and the payroll processing team to ensure accurately and timely data submissionsCompletes in-depth analytical reviews of expense and associated accruals monthlyCollaborates with various departments, including HR, Financial Planning & Analysis and operational team members, to identify and support account balance and statistical fluctuationsReviews and approves account reconciliations and journal entries to ensure all are prepared properly and follow-up on any unusual itemsCommunicates key information directly to stakeholders and executive management membersSupervises the team of payroll accounting senior associates and associatesEvaluates and makes appropriate improvements to internal accounting processes, ensuring that practices are in line with the overall goals of the organizationSupports the accounting team in the quarterly and annual audit processes for the consolidated company and various subsidiaries through researching audit questions and providing requested supporting documentationOversees the proper storage and maintenance of all accounting documentationPerform other tasks, as assignedConducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, its policies and procedures, the Corporate Compliance Agreement, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable professional standardsQualifications Bachelor Degree in Accounting or equivalent degree required5-8 years of accounting experience, including 2-3 years in a supervisory rolePrevious experience with payroll preferred but not requiredSkills/KnowledgeStrong knowledge of accounting methods and theory, as well as above average proficiency with Microsoft Excel Strong written and verbal communication skills requiredStrong analytical and problem-solving skills required Previous experience working within a GL system strongly preferred; knowledge of Oracle Fusion preferred but not requiredAbility to utilize new tools and technologies in a rapidly changing environment requiredDetail-oriented, self-motivated, strong organizational and documentation skills, ability to work as a team as well as self-directed to meet deadlines, receptive to real-time feedback and continuous process improvement desired
