Payroll Administrator

We currently have an exciting full time career opportunity available to join the HKNC team as a Payroll Administrator. Responsible for maintaining and administering all of Helen Keller Services’ payroll systems and company codes. This role will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of payroll records and processing of high volume, multi-state payroll accurately and efficiently. This role will provide support to the Accounting Team and serve as the main point of contact for all payroll and compensation-related employee inquiries. This is an in-person position based out of Sands Point, NY. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES + Processed bi-weekly payrolls, entering employee data, managing timesheets, and updating pay data for company codes 8ZF and JMG. + Verified employee timesheets for accuracy and completeness. + Managed Paid Time Off (PTO) accruals. + Processed paperwork and data entry for union dues, garnishments, and child support orders. + Ensured accurate and timely processing of all payroll transactions. + Coordinated with HR to receive payroll reports and documents for timely processing. + Presented payroll data to the Director of Accounting and/or CFO for final review and approval. + Acted as key contact for payroll issues, providing expert guidance within the organization. + Maintained compliance with federal and state regulations regarding payroll practices. + Set up new payroll states, including registration with the state's department of revenue and unemployment programs. + Responded to tax agency notices, liens, garnishments, and external requests. + Researched and resolved payroll-related problems or inquiries. + Executed 403(b) transfers, changes, and updates through the Principal website. + Conducted monthly reconciliation of payroll and benefits accounts, including 941 and NYS45 reconciliation. + Developed and recommended Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with HR and Finance to ensure compliance with payroll regulations and company policies. + Maintained time and attendance systems, guiding management and employees on technical issues. + Completed special projects and additional tasks as requested by management. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE + Associates degree with business and/or bookkeeping emphasis required – bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business/accounting or other related field preferred + American Payroll Assoc. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or other similar certifications preferred + Minimum of 4 years’ experience processing payroll. + Experience with multi-state payroll processing. + Advance knowledge of ADP Payroll System and reporting. + Prior experience with ADP Workforce Now, including Time Off and Time & Attendance module. + Experience with union payroll/practices. + Must be proficient with MS Excel/Word/Outlook. + Excellent organization and mathematical skills. + Ability to work independently, take initiative, and work collaboratively while integrating a high level of attention to detail and organization.
