Payroll Analyst

We’re looking for a Payroll Analyst to join our team. This position will report to the Senior Payroll Manager. The expectations of this role are to utilize experience and independent judgement that will support the company’s payroll operations ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Will work both independently as well as with other team members to ensure that the end-to-end completion of payroll deliverables and projects achieve the objectives of the Payroll Department, and the organization as a whole. This position exercises the utmost discretion when handling sensitive and confidential matters such as payroll inputs, viewing compensation data, personnel documents, and organizational changes. This role will primarily support the entire payroll operations and will also work cross-functionally within the Finance, Benefits, and Human Resources teams. Responsibilities: **This role is a hybrid between payroll processing/operations and tax analytics and maintenance.** Payroll: + Audit timekeeping records for compliance with established company and regulatory standards, and perform all duties associated with the data approval and transfer into the payroll system every pay period. + Support the integration between the payroll and Timekeeping systems and assist in building internal payroll processes for scale, including streamlining processes. + With the use of reports, conduct a series of audits to ensure the control and accuracy of payments issued to hourly and salaried associates. + Serve as general backup to all team members in the biweekly and off-cycle payroll processes; actively participate and assist team as needed. + Ensures payroll reporting and payments are compliant with company policy, generally accepted accounting principles, and federal, state and IRS regulations. + Utilizes proactive methods to maintain, organize, or make recommendations with the intention to streamline, enhance, or standardize processes. + Ensures the maintenance of accurate and complete employee records in electronic form, as applicable, and ensures all recordkeeping requirements are met. + Partners with different teams and departments to increase payroll service and delivery performance. + Ensures the proper application of all policies, plans and procedures, for all regions. + Attends training and seminars (via online or in person) as appropriate to maintain and enhance job knowledge and skills. + Fosters positive employee relations and works independently as well as with peers to solve employee issues or escalations that may surface. + Constantly cross-trains with all team members to provide adequate backup and support. + Assist with reporting requirements for: Department of Labor Reporting, Multiple Worksite Reporting, and Bureau of Labor Statistics. + Performs other related duties as assigned. Tax: + Via the use of reports and audits - Identify discrepancies in tax set up or calculations, at the associate and company level. + Identify root cause analysis, communicate and execute proper resolution to the issues and discrepancies encountered. + Partner with tax vendor to ensure proper handling and resolution of agency notices received. + Actively lead quarter-end and year-end tasks and ensure proper balancing, processing and accurate processing and remittance of all tax forms. + Ensure all systems are properly updated with current tax rates. SKILLS + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; expresses thoughts and ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing; establishes trust and confidence quickly. Flexible, team player. + Familiarity with Wage & Hour Laws. + Knowledge of federal, state and local tax requirements. + Payroll system savvy. Workday knowledge preferred. + Highly proficient skills in Microsoft Office (primarily Excel-VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables, data analytics, etc.) COMPETENCIES + Ability to effectively synchronize within the team, yet function independently while proving reliability and effectiveness in the execution of the goals and deadlines assigned + Highly detailed and accurate, with excellent organizational skills. + High leadership and independent initiative mentality. EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS College degree with a Human Resources/Finance focus or equivalent work experience required. 3+ years of payroll analytical experience required. Experience in tax reconciliation desired. Canada / Mexico payroll experience a plus. Experience with Oracle Time & Labor a plus. Experience with Workday a great plus.
