Payroll Analyst

PAYROLL ANALYST - position is located in Calgary, AB ROLE STATEMENT: The Payroll Analyst will be a member of the Human Resources (HR) department responsible for the accurate and timely processing of all payroll cycles within Calfrac. Reporting to the Supervisor, Payroll and Benefits, the Payroll Analyst will focus on responding to the needs of employees, operational management, and to changes in business needs and reporting. SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES: • Acts as the primary point of contact for employees, advisors and business partners for any Payroll related inquiries • Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of Canadian bi-weekly payroll utilizing Oracle HCM reports to ensure data is administered correctly (including calculation of hours, special adjustments, earnings, deductions, taxes, etc.) • Uploads and reconciles the bi-weekly bonus transfer for Field staff • Uploads and reconciles the bi-weekly UKG timecard information • Inputs non-recurring payments into Oracle HCM module (annual STIP, RSU’s, etc. ensuring proper authorization in place) • Inputs new hires/rehires, organizational changes, transfers and promotions into Oracle HCM ensuring data integrity and payroll compliance • Inputs Terminations into Oracle HCM, triggering final payment activities, including Web-ROE process (Records of Employment) and upload / download from Service Canada • Sets up, reconciles and administers payment for garnishments • Creates Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) bank files, seeks approval and transmits to the bank • Liaise with and remit to government agencies (Federal and Provincial) with respect to withholding taxes and other non-statutory payroll related deductions • Reviews employee information in Oracle HCM and validates accuracy for Payroll processing • Liaise with Treasury and Accounting Departments for Payroll funding requirements • Keeps current with legislative environments as it pertains to Canadian Payroll and works proactively to ensure Canadian Payroll processes and systems are in place to address legislative changes as they occur • Coordinates and participates in testing of Oracle HCM updates and tax changes • Provides support of year-end reporting and processing, including printing and distributing T4’s, T4A’s, T2200’s and other required tax forms • Provide support to the Benefit Department when required • Manages and reconciles the vehicle taxable benefit annual estimates and year end actuals. • Develops new methodologies, partners with departments within Calfrac to solve problems, and redesign Payroll processes • Identifies payroll processes that can be eliminated, streamlined or outsourced to effectively manage and / or reduce costs KEY ATTRIBUTES AND COMPETENCIES: • Builds appropriate, constructive, and effective business relationships throughout the organization, and is approachable • Communicates clearly, accurately, and consistently both verbally and in written matters • Employs’ the principles of active listening and encourages feedback from others • Achieves results set by self and others, meets timelines, pushes to achieve stretch goals, and demonstrates enthusiasm, persistence and tenacity • Breaks down work into executable tasks • Commits to building enduring relationships and delivering optimal customer solutions • Effectively meets internal and external customer needs, builds proactive customer relationships, and takes responsibility for customer satisfaction and loyalty • Deals with new concepts and complexity comfortably • Examines problems carefully and thoroughly and understands their interdependencies • Can pull information and ideas from many sources and see the importance of many factors • Strong payroll skills – comprehensive knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills • Critical and analytical approach to achieving results that are effective from both business and employee perspectives • Exceptional problem solving skills and the ability to consider details and complexities of issues in arriving at proactive and innovative solutions • Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required • Understanding of International assignments and regulatory reporting is a definite asset • Ability to respond quickly, propose insightful solutions and work with multiple stakeholders is critical EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the delivery of payroll • National Payroll Institute Certification either PCP or PLP as asset
