Payroll Analyst
Port of Seattle
**Some of what you'll be doing:**
As a Payroll Analyst, you will partner with key departments to ensure accurate and timely compensation for Port employees in accordance with procedures, complex labor contracts and local, state and federal laws. You will also perform all aspects of central payroll administration daily with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
+ You will perform audits of documents received from other departments for their impact on payroll.
+ You will audit employee-related payroll changes submitted for accuracy. You also will review and validate accuracy of information entered in PeopleSoft HCM.
+ You will enter various employee deductions including dues, child support payments, garnishments, wage assignments and any other employee related deductions into PeopleSoft HCM.
+ You will ensure deductions are taken per Collective Bargaining Agreements, Federal/State laws, and policy.
+ You will audit deductions after entry to ensure correct deductions have collected.
+ You will calculate and document retro payments for union and non-union employees including complex evaluation of pay rate changes occurring on multiple effective dates.
+ You will ensure that union contracts payroll and benefit related terms and conditions are accurately and timely implemented in PeopleSoft HCM. You will be ensuring that union benefit rates and deductions are current and accurate.
+ You will work with Labor Relations and union representatives to provide information and reports as requested.
+ You will utilize queries, reports, and other data from PeopleSoft HCM to research employee pay issues regarding leave, overtime, deductions, and other payroll-related issues.
+ You will research and summarize information to answer employee or other department questions regarding Payroll issues.
**Who you are:**
+ **Experienced** – You have two (2) years of experience in accounting operations and systems including payroll and related reporting.
+ **Desired** – We hope you have a two (2) year Associate's Degree or equivalent certification in payroll or accounting. Additionally, we hope you have experience managing payroll for represented and non-represented roles.

+ **Efficient Communicator** – You possess effective verbal, written, and active listening communication skills. Writes concise, organized, and clear communications to internal and external customers.
+ **Detail-Oriented** – You show attention to detail and high level of accuracy, with ability to spot issues and errors in data and information. You can develop original ideas, approaches, and solutions to typical, unusual, or difficult situations or problems.
+ **Problem-Solver** – You conduct research in rules, regulations, procedures, and standards and use knowledge to resolve Payroll-related issues. You also investigate issues, gather and organize information, and take action as needed.
+ **Technically Skilled** – You have proficiency in computer-based Payroll related systems, such as PeopleSoft HCM and proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications, such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
**What else you need to know:**
+ **Work Schedule** – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. You may be required to work during emergencies.
+ **Work Environment** - This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management’s discretion.
+ **Washington State Residency Requirement** – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
+ **Overtime Eligible** – You are eligible for overtime pay in this role.
