Payroll Analyst II

A position at Xcel Energy could be just what you’re looking for. **Position Summary** Provide expertise and support projects to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing and financial reporting in a multi-state and multi-company environment. Analyze and process non-routine, employee payroll, benefit, pension trust reconciliation, and/or job record transactions. Provide payroll/timekeeping system support including research, reporting, auditing, testing and solving timekeeping issues. Ensure compliance with multiple bargaining agreements, Federal/State/local tax regulations and Company policies. Support cross-functional teams and various business areas on payroll and system related projects, interfaces, upgrades and enhancements. Support payroll processes, internal controls and appropriate process improvements. Maintain current knowledge of tax laws and policies, interpret organizational impact, and implement required process and systems changes to remain compliant and efficient. **Essential Responsibilities** + Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing (regular, off-cycle and annual) in accordance with all federal, state, and local regulations and tax standards, bargaining agreements, and company policies. Analyze and process non-routine, employee payroll, benefit, pension trust reconciliation, and/or job record transactions. Support, complex and high-visibility transactions including multi-state taxation adjustments, incentive taxation, retroactive adjustments, year-end tax reconciliations, and unique bargaining payouts. + Research and analyze payroll issues including reconciliations, overpayments, taxation and adjustments. Provide payroll processing, calculation, and support on business and technology issues that impact how/when employees are paid. Communicate research and analysis results to a wide variety of audiences in a timely manner. + Support the payroll team, timekeepers, and cross-functional teams on various payroll and system related projects, interfaces, upgrades and enhancements. Provide training, manage system access, reporting, creating processes and procedures, researching issues, reconciling data with other systems, and lead special projects. + Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with the Company's policies, multiple bargaining agreements and tax regulations. Identify and implement process improvements. **Minimum Requirements** + Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or related degree/equivalent experience. + Three years of experience in payroll with an emphasis on analytical skills and processes in a multiple company structure. + Demonstrated knowledge of privacy laws and applicable benefits and payroll regulations. + Experience supporting complex technical issues and making recommended solutions. + Proficient skills/experience in Microsoft Office applications. + Experience should include HR, pay, benefits or other shared service functions, project management, payroll systems, including time and labor administration. + Ability to manage multiple priorities, deliver a high level of accuracy and possess excellent time management skills. + Ability to effectively communicate with customers including executives, and demonstrate strong relationship building skills. + Customer focused, produces timely and accurate results. + CPP certification preferred. **Preferred Requirements** + Experience with Bargaining (Union) Payroll + Experience with UKG or Workday As a leading combination electricity and natural gas energy company, Xcel Energy offers a comprehensive portfolio of energy-related products and services to 3.4 million electricity and 1.9 million natural gas customers across eight Western and Midwestern states.
