Manages the continued success and improvement of payroll systems, accounting, processes, practices, reporting, research, and analytics within the Payroll Department. Performs deep-dive data analysis into Payroll topics while managing priorities between research and development effectively. Works closely with employees and management to provide integrity for all payroll and accounting systems and reviews including internal and external audits. Performs analytics for business and operational processes. Has comprehensive knowledge for all payroll accounting activities including journal entry processing, monthly accruals, and account reconciliations. Performs associated research relative to payroll, tax and garnishment processing and general ledger activity utilizing, report writers, analytics software, databases, and Microsoft tools.

Job Details Utilizes an exceptional degree of accuracy to work on a full range of payroll department activities that support timely and accurate processing for all payroll and accounting activities including daily, weekly, and monthly general ledger postings, accruals and account reconciliations, audits annual SUTA rate updates while tracking voluntary contribution payments presented from employment tax vendor to reduce tax rate, while working collaboratively with the payroll operations team and management to communicate reconciliation needs clearly and determine best practices, and training needs through performing in-depth investigations and analysis to determine root cause of opportunities while identifying gaps and go forward solutions. Maintains unclaimed research and paid out reconciliations between accounts payable, cash audit and payroll systems on a timely basis.Partners with external teams such as HR, Benefits, Compensation, Financial Reporting, Cash Audit, Internal and External auditors to complete reconciliations and resolve discrepancies. Maintain appropriate timeliness and controls for reporting and research of labor distributions, unclaimed wages, unidentified paid outs and other special projects.Fulfill payroll audit requests and legal inquiries while evaluating best practices and training needs to determine short and long term goals to reduce company expense and implement process improvements. Communicate findings with management on a regular basis. Support paystub posting and paycard administration including enrollments and funding, research vendor discrepancy reports and communicate finding, process stock and equity adjustments ensuring accurate and timely processing into applicable payroll systems.

Develop and maintain query wizards and upload templates using Microsoft Developer and Add-In tools. Ability to utilize an array of business analytical tools, while developing necessary reporting and processing ad hoc requests. (Includes but not limited to monthly

Understand the strategy, trends, and context of the business to shape output.  Intermediate to advanced understanding of payroll laws, calculations, accounting principles, and regulations.  Superior organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while managing change consistent with strategic initiatives.  Self-Reliant with strong analytical and problem solving skills. Advanced PC and Microsoft Office skills (Access skills, Power Query, or Power BI experience).  Team player with the ability to interact and maintain relationships with multiple departments.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with all levels of management.  Exceptional analytical experience for interpreting data, presenting options, and making informed recommendations with strong people skills need to influence and negotiate with customers Qualifications

Bachelor’s or associates degree in Accounting or statistics, plus 3 - 5 years of accounting and analytical experience required. Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) a plus. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
