Compensation: competitive hourly rate plus bonus structure, ESOP contributions, 401(k) match

Location: on-site, may be based either in Auburn, NH, Milford, MA, or Gardiner, ME

We are searching for an enthusiastic and experienced Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our growing team! In this role you will be responsible for daily and weekly duties related to our multi-state payroll processing, and general support of our human resources functions.

What you will be doing:

Daily activities in support of a timely weekly payroll processing including but not limited to data entry, auditing, employee master file maintenance, benefits and deduction audits, etc.
Weekly and monthly reporting including certified payroll, union remittances, external compliance reporting, employment verifications and ad hoc requests.
Support a variety of HR initiatives including benefits administration, onboarding, employee document management, and HRIS maintenance.

In order to be successful in this role, here’s what we will need from you:

Exceptional attention to detail and ability to not only identify variances but the curiosity to dig in and perform root cause analysis and system/process improvement to avoid repeat issues;
Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills with the genuine desire to help and provide resolution to employee inquiries;
Ability to leverage technology to both facilitate and improve the administrative processes associated with payroll and HR. Strong MS Office skills with particular focus on Excel;
Understand the highly confidential nature of the position, ensuring complete discretion with regard to employee personal and payroll information.

About You

You are an experienced administrative professional with 3-5 years’ experience in payroll (including familiarity with unions and union reporting, knowledge of UKG Pro is a plus), benefits, and/or human resources. You may have a Bachelor’s degree in finance, or general accounting experience along with a desire to learn payroll. In addition to being enthusiastic, helpful, and task oriented, you are dependable, highly accountable, and understand that payroll must go on! Rain or shine!
