Payroll and T&E Compliance Specialist
Overview BigBear.ai is seeking a Payroll and T&E Compliance Specialist. The candidate will be responsible for reviewing, verifying, and approving employee time entries and expense reports in a timely and accurate manner. This position will also be responsible ensuring compliance with regulatory compliance (state payroll tax filings, unemployment tax). This role ensures compliance with company policies, legal regulations, and budgetary guidelines while maintaining the integrity of financial records. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities. The ideal candidate will have experience in T&E and/or payroll at a government contractor. What you will do Review and verify employee timesheets and expense reports ensuring correct allocations to government contracts, task orders and cost centers. Ensure that time entries comply with labor laws and company guidelines regarding overtime, paid leave, and other applicable regulations. Approve or reject expense reports based on company expense policies and ensure all required documentation is attached and collaborate with employees to obtain corrections. Coordinate with the payroll and accounting departments to ensure that approved time and expenses are processed for payment in a timely manner. Develop, maintain and enforce payroll and T&E compliance policies to meet DCAA, and FAR standards. Assist the payroll function to drive compliance with state filing requirements Maintain confidentiality and secure handling of employee and company financial data. Other duties as assigned or as desired. What you need to have High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field is preferred. 3-5 years of experience in finance, accounting, payroll, or human resources with a focus on time and expense management. Familiarity with time tracking and expense reporting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Concur) is highly desirable. Knowledge of labor laws and financial regulations related to time tracking and expense reporting is a plus. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. What we'd like you to have Process-oriented with strong organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
