Payroll IT Systems Lead

As a Payroll IT Systems Lead you will be responsible for overseeing the technical management and optimisation of Downer Payroll systems SAP, Oracle and ExpressHR . This role includes planning and executing comprehensive testing, collaborating with stakeholders to define and document requirements and ensuring system performance and compliance in line with The Downer Standard.

Tertiary Qualified (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree) in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Technology or related field.

Ensure effective management and resolution of incidents, service requests, and problems within the payroll applications, as well as integrated solutions. This will be achieved primarily through external service providers and includes monitoring performance and managing vendors to achieve SLA’s and other service management deliverables.   Work closely with the business and IT resources and vendor partners to ensure that problems are resolved in a timely manner, and requests are prioritised.   Deliver expert knowledge, advice, and support for SAP's/ Oracle time and payroll modules, along with related business processes.Collaborate with business stakeholders and consultants to gather, summarise, and prepare functional specifications and change requests, including detailed design and configuration information.Facilitate process walkthroughs with clients to ensure alignment between business processes and SAP solution functionality.Working with the business stakeholders to determine key business needs / requirements and ensuring appropriate options are considered for Payroll systems and identify and drive continuous improvements in payroll processes to enhance operational efficiency.Managing and QA’ing delivery of minor works & enhancements within Payroll or other integrated systems and tracking hours utilised against a pool of available discretionary effort. Ensure all system changes are made in accordance to the Downer IT Change Management policies and procedures as well as application design principles. This includes release & deployment planning and scheduling. Implement testing plans to validate changes in payroll system configurations, ensuring effective communication and efficient ticket management. Plan and govern unit, integration, user acceptance, and regression testing for SAP/ Oracle time and payroll configurations and developmentsMaintaining clear communication with customers, key business stakeholders and vendors. Ensuring service providers maintain systems documentation and templates accurately and in a timely manner Providing input into roadmaps for Payroll Solutions in terms of platform maintenance, DR scheduling, configuration item upgrades and enhancements, data archiving and decommissioning. Ensuring that IT service management processes and policies are adhered to Participate in disaster recovery exercises and remediation. Remediate audit findings and execute agreed elements, including security reviews every 6 months Close liaison with any Payroll based projects and proactive engagement to facilitate a smooth service transition. Work with designated business stakeholders & IT Service Providers to establish agreed procedures aimed at maximising system data integrity. Ensure software license usage is measured and in compliance with vendor licensing terms. Other tasks as directed by the IT Platform Manager – Workforce Management Applications.


Skills and Experience

Technical knowledge of applications being supportedExperience of SDLC application process to manage vendor deliveryProficient in generating complect ad hoc reports based on system data and business requirements Proven ability in managing integrated HR/Payroll systems including the configuration, management, and troubleshooting of system interfaces and data exchanges between systemsExceptional ability to prioritise multiple tasks, manage conflicting deadlines and work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
