Payroll Manager

Primary Purpose

The Payroll Manager will guide and direct the timeliness and accuracy of processing of all payroll functions. Ensure weekly and semi-monthly payroll functions are processed in a timely manner and in accordance with Mountaire policies and procedures. Responsible for managing and developing a team with expertise and skill in an assigned area of concentration and will be focused on ensuring the accuracy of financial information in order to safeguard the assets of the company.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

Completes Month-End Close process and reporting and maintains experienced staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness of processing of all payroll. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to, processing local weekly and semi-monthly payroll functions and processing garnishments and deductions. Provides clear direction and support for team activities. Monitors the daily performance of the accounting payroll department. Guides training and development of the team to increase competency and commitment. Prepares ad-hoc reporting, analyses as needed and special projects required by the Controller. Assists and supports audit initiatives. Monitors, enforces and tests internal control systems. Establishes payroll policies and procedures. Prepares the annual budget for respective area(s). Directs and reviews staff activities and other special projects as assigned. Promotes and maintains a safe and secure work environment for associates in accordance with Mountaire policies.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. 5 - 7 years' related work experience. Poultry experience preferred. Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control and payroll taxes.
