Payroll Manager

POSITION:          Payroll Manager

DEPARTMENT:  Corporate Accounting

REPORTS TO:     VP, Global Corporate Controller

FLSA STATUS:    Salaried/Exempt

Manage the day-to-day activity of the Payroll Administration team and managing the effective delivery of the department’s activities and services for the corporation.  Mentor staff and maintain internal & external client relationships

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Oversee payroll operations and initiate process improvements related to internal customer service and productivity

Manage a team of payroll staff

Manage third party relationship related to payroll processing

Ensure that the calculation of earnings and other payments are timely, accurate and in compliance with Federal and state

Ensure new venues are appropriately register and setup in payroll system by collaborating with various departments

Ensure payroll files are received and processed timely to meet payroll timelines

Maintain open communications with all departments, but especially Venues, as necessary to maintain client satisfaction

Identify and implement opportunities for automation

Ensure regulatory compliance/filings are completed timely and accurately

Supervisory Responsibilities     

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, training and developing employees; assigning and directing work; rewarding and correcting performance of employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

Education and/or Experience           

Business Administration (Required) Experience 10 Years experience in payroll operations

Experience with processing payroll through Workday

Experience in leading and managing a payroll department.

Advanced computer literacy (specific proficiency in Word and Excel), desire to support new products and technologies, demonstrated practical and hands-on (can-do)

Extensive knowledge in Payroll & Accounting procedures and Payroll Tax Laws & Regulations

Ability to operate independently and have the strong desire to work as a member of a team.

Strong organization and communication skills

Proficiency in Microsoft products

Ability to quickly learn new financial systems and tools

Professional demeanor

Skills and Abilities      

Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous priorities and achieve results without close supervision is necessary.

Participate in the payroll efforts in the implementation of Workday payroll.

Training on financial systems as necessary.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have working knowledge of spreadsheet software and work processing software and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
