Provide leadership, coaching and development to the existing payroll team Provide detailed review and approval for full cycle semi-monthly, monthly and weekly payrolls for 900+ employees across multiple states and locations. Occasionally process payroll as a backup to the team Manage employee compensation-related actions with HR and Finance Provide prompt customer service to internal and external customers Maintain a high degree of confidentiality in order to preserve employee confidence and protect sensitive data Follow federal, state, and local legal requirements and company procedures to ensure compliance Keep up to date on changes in payroll and tax rules and regulations, as well as software upgrades Manage payroll scheduling to ensure compliance with company policy, as well as state, federal, and global payroll regulations Review off-cycle payrolls for stock option exercises as necessary for compliance with federal tax laws, including a working knowledge of equity reporting Assess the payroll impact of adding new tax jurisdictions or countries, as needed Provide payroll reports to Finance, HR, and management on a regular basis and as needed Complete and/or review payroll-related journal entries and reconciliations as part of the month-end close process Assist with annual audits (financial statement, worker’s compensation, 401k) and information needed for Proxy reporting Manage year end payroll processes, including W-2s and 401(k) true-ups Oversee payroll business processes and recommend / implement changes as needed Cultivate positive working relationships with other team members and departmentsWhat you should have:
At least five years of full-cycle payroll experience within multiple states and jurisdictions, as well as global payroll processing Proficient working knowledge of payroll compliance, and state and federal tax codes Background in Payroll / HRIS systems. Dayforce / Ceridian experience preferred. Experience with HRIS implementation a plus Strong skills with Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications (advanced Excel and Google Sheets) Bachelor’s degree or additional experience/education preferred (Certified Payroll Professional certification is a plus) Pay and perks: Schrödinger understands it’s people that make a company great. Estimated base salary range: $100,000 - $180,000. Actual compensation package is dependent on a number of factors, including, for example, experience, education, degrees held, market data, and business needs.
