Payroll Manager
Seeking an Eager and Dedicated Payroll Manager in the Des Moines Area!! Job Description Oversee the payroll process and provide coverage and assistance to the payroll processing team. Coordinate and facilitate internal and external audits. Identify continuous improvement initiatives and implement plans to improve efficiency and accuracy while supporting compliance requirements. Ensure federal and state tax reports, unemployment reports and payments, tax deposits, and related items are completed by deadlines. Ensure payroll records are maintained and kept informed on payroll-related federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Manage third-party vendor relationships and updates for software and systems. Develop, mentor, and coach payroll team members. Collaborate with the HR team on employee benefits. Essential Skills + Payroll + Payroll processing + Payroll tax + ADP + Reconciliation Additional Skills & Qualifications + 7+ years of payroll experience required + 2+ years of experience managing or leading others + Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation or willingness to obtain upon hire + Experience processing payroll for union employees is a plus + Degree required – an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered + Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook + Proficient in payroll software such as JDE, UKG, Passport, and/or ADP is a plus Work Environment The team consists of 15 individuals. This role includes direct responsibility for one direct report and oversight of five people under the Payroll Supervisor. The Payroll Manager reports to the Payroll Controller. The position offers a hybrid work environment; after six months, remote work is allowed for two days per week, with Wednesday being mandatory in-office.
