Job Description
We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Payroll Manager with expertise in UKG Software. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing biweekly multi-state payroll processing for 2500+ employees, including sales, hourly, salary, and shift differentials. This role involves auditing payroll, handling service escalations, and managing 401k plans through Fidelity.
ResponsibilitiesOversee the day-to-day US payroll and HR operations functions.Audit and approve bi-weekly payrolls; act as the escalation point for all payroll matters.Collaborate with HR teams across various US locations.Manage US Payroll system’s company and employee-level data in partnership with HRIS, including auditing employee data en masse.Prepare and distribute reports such as Worker’s Compensation semi-annual reporting, CA Pay Data, and multi-worksite reporting.Manage the Employee Resource Center and serve as the escalation point for payroll, time, and attendance matters.Implement process improvements and functional enhancements to ensure regulatory compliance and a positive employee experience.Maintain relationships with the payroll vendor and the 401k plan provider.Partner with the Benefits team on payroll/operations matters and liaise with benefit vendors for issue resolution.Serve as the main point of contact for internal and external payroll audits.Research and resolve jurisdictional communications for payroll tax matters, review quarterly and annual payroll tax returns, and apply to new tax jurisdictions when necessary.Collaborate with the Total Rewards Team on annual increases, bonuses, and international employee transfers.Oversee payroll-centric year-end and year-begin processes.Coordinate data collection and respond to ad hoc requests from Operations, Accounting, Corporate Tax, and other internal teams.Execute all required compliance reporting such as W-2, 1095-C, EEO-1, AAP, VETS, etc.Essential SkillsExpertise in payroll processing, specifically using UKG Software.Experience with biweekly multi-state payroll processing for 2500+ employees.Proficiency in running payroll for sales, hourly, salary, and shift differentials.Strong auditing skills.Experience handling service escalations.Knowledge of managing 401k plans through Fidelity.Additional Skills & QualificationsPreferred: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, or a related area.Balance of technical and functional knowledge of UKG payroll processes, banking, garnishments, time management, and HRIS systems.Understanding of accounting principles, payroll tax laws and compliance, and payroll audit/control procedures.Familiarity with health and welfare and 401(k) plan design and administration.Experience in payroll, benefits, and time and attendance system implementation.7+ years in multi-state payroll management, preferably in an organization with manufacturing and sales.Experience with ADP Vantage, Kronos, and SAP Success Factors is a plus.Experience with a shared services model for payroll, benefits, and HR operations.Intermediate level Excel skills, including v-lookup and pivot table experience.Intermediate report-building skills for UKG’s Business Intelligence.Project management experience.Supervision experience.Work Environment
The role is within a generic pharmaceutical company that implemented UKG from ADP in January. The implementation process faced some challenges, and the new Payroll Manager will need to navigate and improve this environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $57.69 - $62.50/hr.
