PRINCIPLE ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage and oversee the end-to-end bi-weekly payroll process for all employees including full-time, part-time, and tipped employees. Work with department leaders to ensure proper tracking of employee hours, clockings, PTO, and proper use of secondary job codes in the timekeeping system. Supervise and lead the payroll team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure the team operates efficiently and effectively. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and standards. Set up local taxes, wage garnishments, and other deductions. Audit occupational tax filings prepared by ProLiant. Address and resolve any payroll discrepancies or issues promptly and effectively, and answer employee questions regarding their pay, deductions, or tax withholdings. Audit contract labor invoicing to ensure accuracy before being submitted to A/P for processing. Prepare payroll reports and provide documentation for audits and internal reviews. Ensure seamless integration and accuracy of payroll data with the accounting system. Active participant in month-end closing process, preparing payroll accrual journal entries, among other assigned payroll journal entries. Collaborate with HR and finance departments to ensure payroll data is accurate and aligned with company policies and financial records. Continuously seek opportunities to improve payroll processes and systems for greater efficiency and accuracy. System Upgrades: Lead system upgrade projects, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal disruption to operations. Other related duties as assigned.JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Management Experience needed: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. 8+ years of payroll experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Industry-specific knowledge, skills & abilities needed: Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations at the federal, state, and local levels. Proficiency in handling tips and variable compensation for employees, particularly in a restaurant setting.
Functional/Job-Related knowledge, skills & abilities needed: Proficiency Microsoft Suite. Experience with Oracle’s NetSuite, ProLiant, and Unifocus is a plus. Attention to detail.
Interpersonal knowledge, skills & abilities needed: Must be able to work as a team with other departments and divisions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Character: Self-driven. High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive payroll information.
Specific knowledge/experience needed: Working knowledge of databases and accounting information systems.
