Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager with extensive knowledge of UKG systems. The ideal candidate will be proficient in UKG configuration, report building, timekeeping, benefits, interfaces, data validation, and payroll processing. This role requires expertise in auditing payrolls, reconciling general ledgers, invoicing, tax setup, and compliance with tax regulations. A strong understanding of garnishments, PTO laws, break laws, banking, tax funding, year-end, and year-begin processes is essential. The candidate should have beginner to intermediate experience in building reports using Business Intelligence tools.
Responsibilities
+ Oversee day-to-day US payroll and HR operations functions.
+ Audit and approve bi-weekly payrolls, acting as the escalation point for payroll matters.
+ Collaborate with HR teams at various US locations.
+ Manage US payroll system’s data in partnership with HRIS, including auditing employee data.
+ Prepare and distribute Worker’s Compensation semi-annual reporting, CA Pay Data, and multi-worksite reporting.
+ Manage the Employee Resource Center and serve as the escalation point for payroll, time, and attendance matters.
+ Implement process improvements and functional enhancements for a positive employee experience and regulatory compliance.
+ Maintain relationships with payroll vendors and 401k plan providers.
+ Partner with the Benefits team for payroll/operations matters and liaise with benefit vendors.
+ Serve as the main contact for payroll audits and provide information for accounting reconciliation.
+ Resolve payroll tax matters and review payroll tax returns.
+ Partner with the Total Rewards Team for annual increases, bonuses, and international employee transfers.
+ Execute compliance reporting such as W-2, 1095-C, EEO-1, AAP, VETS, etc.
+ Coordinate data collection and responses to ad hoc requests from various internal teams.
Essential Skills
+ 7+ years of multi-state payroll management experience.
+ Proficiency in UKG systems and payroll processes.
+ Experience with biweekly multi-state payroll processing for 2500+ employees.
+ Experience in running payroll for sales, hourly, salary, and shift differentials.
+ Strong auditing and service escalation skills.
+ Experience in managing 401k plans through Fidelity.
+ Bachelor’s degree in human resources, finance, or a related area preferred.
+ Technical and functional knowledge of banking, garnishments, time management, and HRIS systems.
+ Understanding of accounting principles, payroll tax laws, and compliance.
+ Experience in payroll, benefits, and time and attendance system implementation.
+ Experience with UKG’s Business Rules, templates, and Web Import Tool.
+ Intermediate Excel skills, including v-lookup and pivot tables.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Intermediate report building skills using Business Intelligence tools.
+ Project management and supervision experience.
+ Detail-focused and organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
+ Professionalism and strong customer service skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with ADP Vantage, Kronos, and SAP Success Factors is a plus.
+ Experience with a shared services model for payroll, benefits, and HR operations.
+ Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all levels of the organization.
Work Environment
The work environment is within a generic pharma industry. The company recently transitioned from ADP to UKG in January, which required adaptability and problem-solving due to a less than smooth implementation. The role involves working with diverse employees across 30+ states, including Ohio. The position requires a flexible approach to accommodate the specific needs of the payroll system and ensure seamless operations.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $57.69 - $62.50/hr.
