Job Title: Payroll Practitioner I or II
Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Practitioner I or II to join our team. This role involves processing multi-state, multi-entity payroll, performing essential payroll functions, and ensuring adherence to deadlines. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll principles and practices, excellent customer service skills, and proficiency in various software applications.

ResponsibilitiesUpdate and maintain current employee payroll information in HRMS/Payroll database.Check timesheets for completeness and accuracy, coordinating corrections with managers.Audit timecards and import and balance hours from the Time System.Review and process pays in compliance with state regulations and company policies.Calculate overtime, pay rate differentials, and other special pay calculations.Place stop payments and direct deposit reversals as needed.Prepare and balance pay data and manual adjustment batches.Complete pay transactions including leave of absence, transfers, job status changes, and terminations.Calculate and process manual checks and paid time off accrual adjustments.Validate payroll preview data using various reports and Excel templates, making corrections prior to transmission.Meet payroll transmission deadlines.Research discrepancies, make corrections, and respond promptly to manager and employee inquiries.Maintain effective working relationships with other departments.Provide support to Human Resources, operations, and department leaders with payroll processes.Assist with handling Payroll Questions email and special projects.Calculate retroactive pay adjustments.Complete and process garnishments from distribution to setup.Review payroll salary allocation changes for accuracy and assign as needed.Provide paycheck calculation guidance to employees.Assist managers and employees with time card procedure inquiries and training.Develop and distribute custom payroll reports.Assist in training Payroll Practitioner I staff (for Payroll Practitioner II).Participate in meetings and complete other duties as assigned by management.Essential Skills1-3 years of payroll processing experience.Associates degree or equivalent work experience.Knowledge of multi-state processing, including taxation.Experience with paycheck calculation and taxation, including pre-tax and after-tax knowledge.Experience utilizing a report writer to create and generate custom reports.Excellent customer service, strong verbal and written communication skills.Proficiency in ADP Vantage HCM, Microsoft Office, and Excel.Strong organizational and professional skills with attention to detail.Solid knowledge of payroll practices and principles in accordance with Federal and state payroll laws and regulations.Mathematic, research, and analyzing skills.Basic knowledge of accounting principles.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in high volume, bi-weekly, full cycle payroll processing.Work Environment

Work alongside other payroll specialists and practitioners in an open format office near the 405 freeway. The position offers a hybrid work environment with a gradual increase in work-from-home days over six months: 3 months onsite, 4 months with 1 day work-from-home, 5 months with 2 days work-from-home, and 6 months with 3 days work-from-home. Additional benefits include sick/holiday pay accrued.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $32.00/hr.
