Payroll Specialist

NorthStar Memorial Group is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing bi-weekly and weekly payrolls, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Process bi-weekly and weekly payrolls for hourly, salaried, and commission employees across multiple states. Review and update payroll-related deductions and changes. Enter employee information into the payroll system, including pay class, time off policies, allowances, and direct deposit details. Update city, state, and federal withholdings. Maintain payroll reports for reconciliations and assist with resolving payroll variances. Address payroll-related questions and issues from employees. Perform maintenance and resolve issues related to Bonus Plus. Submit liens and wage garnishments to ADP and research related issues. Serve as backup for monthly union dues and pension reporting. Stay current with applicable state and federal wage and hour laws. Ensure confidentiality of employee pay records. Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications:

Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience. Proficiency in MS Office. 2+ years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, with at least six months of payroll processing experience. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree and experience with ADP Workforce Now.

Strong knowledge of payroll functions, including preparation, reconciling, and internal controls. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Effective communication skills and the ability to build long-lasting relationships. Excellent mathematical skills.

Work Environment:
This role is primarily based in a professional office setting with moderate noise levels. Care must be taken when moving or lifting office supplies.
