Introduction
We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our payroll team. You will be responsible for preparing and processing payroll, ensuring that employees are paid accurately with the correct deductions. They will also support with Global Mobility payroll initiatives to ensure complaiance with applicable tax regulations. They also maintain and update records and assist in year-end processes. In this position, you will report to Payroll Manager USA & Canada.This position is mainly located in Burlington, ON but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options.

What You’ll Do
Payroll Processing: Handle weekly or bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees in the US, including expatriate and project assignment payroll administration. Data Management: Maintain payroll information, ensuring accurate and timely updates and changes in line with corporate and governmental requirements. Verification & Reconciliation: Verify all payroll entries, review and reconcile payroll data, and resolve discrepancies as needed. Reporting: Prepare and file various reports on a bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis for governmental agencies and third-party vendors. Taxable Benefits Calculation: Calculate taxable benefits such as automobiles, group insurance, and other benefits. Year-End Processing: Perform year-end processes, including preparing and producing W-2s and filing government forms. Benefits Processing: Support benefits such as group insurance, vacation, sick leave, and parental leaves. External Coordination: Maintain employee benefits and voluntary retirement plan information with external service providers. Team Support: Assist the Benefits, Human Resources, and Finance teams with various reporting requests. Assignment Compensation: Prepare and process assignment compensations, including expatriate and project assignment payroll, hardship premiums, per diems, and other project-related allowances. Tax Reporting: Support tax reporting obligations for assignees in collaboration with the Global Mobility Manager and Metso tax services partners. Project Collaboration: Collaborate on ongoing projects and support additional functions as needed.
Who You Are
Experienced: Extensive experience in payroll processing. Educated: Bachelor’s degree in a related field; a US designation is an asset. Knowledgeable: Must have experience processing USA payroll and understanding local regulations. Tech-Savvy: ADP system experience is a nice to have. Bilingual: High communication skills in English and French would be considered an asset. Customer-Focused: Strong customer service and problem-solving skills. Adaptable: Ability to adapt to a changing environment and support multiple clients. Excel Expert: Expert skills in Microsoft Excel and reporting. Detail-Oriented: High attention to detail.
