Beacon Hill Financial has collaborated with an organization in Downtown D.C. to bring a Payroll Sepcialist to their growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll processing, tax compliance, and employee benefits administration. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for processing payroll, ensuring accuracy in compensation, tax filings, and maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. This role is critical to ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing for our employees.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing:

Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a large, diverse workforce, ensuring accurate and timely payments.Process regular, overtime, bonuses, and commission payments, ensuring proper tax calculations and deductions.Maintain and update employee payroll records, including changes in salaries, benefits, tax withholding, and deductions.

Tax Compliance & Reporting:

Ensure payroll tax compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.Prepare and file payroll taxes, including federal, state, and local income taxes, unemployment taxes, and worker's compensation filings.Process and review year-end payroll reports (W-2s, 1099s, etc.) and ensure accuracy for all employees.

Employee Benefits Administration:

Administer employee benefit deductions, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other voluntary benefits.Coordinate with HR and benefits providers to ensure accurate deductions and benefits enrollment.Address and resolve employee inquiries related to benefits and payroll.

Payroll Reconciliation & Reporting:

Reconcile payroll data to ensure accuracy before processing.Prepare and analyze regular payroll reports for management, including labor costs, discrepancies, and overtime.Assist with the preparation of financial audits and year-end financial reporting.

Compliance & Best Practices:

Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws, wage and hour regulations, and union agreements.Stay current with payroll regulations, trends, and best practices to recommend improvements to processes and systems.

Employee Support:

Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding payroll inquiries, including wage discrepancies, tax deductions, and benefits questions.Provide excellent customer service and problem resolution to ensure employees' concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
