Payroll Specialist

\n\t\t\t\t\t

Reviews payroll information submitted by departments for accuracy prior to \nprocessing the final payroll.\n• Administers accurate computation of payroll. Reviews payroll and related \ninformation.\n• Enters information for new hires, termed Team Members, leave of absences, \nsuspensions, rate changes, and transfers.\n• Creates Team Member files for all new hires and prepares the information to be \ntransmitted to an outside payroll processing company (ADP).\n• Assists Team Members with paycheck discrepancies.\n• Responsible for creating and maintaining various payroll reports, including but \nnot limited to Overtime Report, Accrual for Sick and Vacation Reports, and \nUnused Deduction Reports.\n• Accumulates and reviews information reported to government agencies. Provides \naccurate reporting to federal and state agencies. \n• Ensures compliance with Tribal, State, Federal, and NIGC regulations as they \npertain to payroll records and processing.\n• Processes deductions for garnishments, levies, etc.\n• Performs special analyses as directed by the Payroll Manager or Payroll \nSupervisor.\nDepartment: Accounting Location: Chumash Enterprise Shared \nServices\nJob Code: PAY SPEC Job Title: Payroll Specialist\nFLSA Status: Nonexempt Pay Grade: HH\nReports To: Payroll Supervisor Supervises: N/A\n• Coordinates payroll with an outside payroll provider (ADP). Electronically \ntransfers payroll for payroll check runs. Downloads payroll information back from \npayroll processing company and utilizes exported information to generate reports \nin Microsoft Excel.\n• Verifies time stamps for accuracy and ensures there are no missed punches.\n• Verifies available sick and vacation for cash outs and FMLA.\n• Audits Team Member files.\n• Ensures and maintains the security and confidentiality of all payroll and \npersonnel records.\n• Processes and updates direct deposit information.\n• Ensures accuracy of the information provided on the forms such as effective \ndates and retro dates.\n• Communicates any problems and/or concerns to the Payroll Supervisor or \nPayroll Manager.\n• Assists Payroll Manager on special projects.\n• Upholds a work environment that promotes teamwork, partnership, recognition, \nmutual respect, and collaboration while role modeling the company values, \nbehaviors, and culture of One.Team.Chumash. \n• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Must have ADP experience\nNeed to have bi-weekly payroll experience\nHigh School Diploma or GED Certificate.\n• Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or \nequivalent accounting or payroll experience preferred.\n• Three years of experience in payroll accounting and systems in a similarly \nsituated organization. \n• Ability to work and utilize formulas to generate requested information and reports \nwithin Microsoft Excel.\n• Basic knowledge of business and accounting systems and methods.\n• Basic knowledge of applicable regulations, rules, procedures, and administration \nis required.\n• Proficient in using Microsoft Office and related applications such as email Excel, \nTeams and cloud based applications. \n• Proficient with use of a10-key, computer and other office equipment.\n• Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming \nAgency.\n• Native American hiring preference applies.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00
