Payroll Specialist
Description We are in search of a Payroll Specialist in Goleta, California. This role offers a short-term contract employment opportunity in the software industry. The selected candidate will be primarily responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining tax jurisdictions, and continuously identifying areas for process improvement. Responsibilities: • Accurately process bi-weekly payroll tasks while adhering to internal controls and established procedures. • Register and maintain tax jurisdictions, and handle any related notices. • Thoroughly review bi-weekly payroll integrations, data entries, documents, and results for accuracy and completeness. • Conduct quarterly reviews of payroll records to ensure accuracy, and take appropriate action on any discrepancies found. • Review Time and Attendance records, ensuring adherence to policies outlined in the Employee Handbook. • Respond to audit and reporting requests from the business while maintaining confidentiality. • Maintain various integrations such as 401k contributions. • Regularly review and update procedures, identifying areas of improvement and implementing necessary changes. • Maintain accurate process documentation and partner with HR to resolve employee data queries. • Handle payroll tickets, employee questions, requests, and escalations while maintaining the Payroll ticketing system. • Support the integrity of our data by conducting regular audits and reporting. Requirements • Demonstrated proficiency in Accounting Software Systems • Experience with ADP Workforce Now is required • Familiarity with Ceridian and Dayforce systems • Proven knowledge in 401k - RRSP Administration • Experience with About Time software is a plus • Solid understanding of payroll processes, procedures, and regulations • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion • Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
