Payroll Specialist
Job Title: Payroll SpecialistJob Description We are seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist to process weekly payroll for all construction employees, both union and nonunion. This role involves calculating hours, commissions, bonuses, and deductions while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and reporting requirements. The Payroll Specialist will prepare and submit Certified Payroll Reports and Statements of Compliance, resolve payroll discrepancies, and answer employee payroll queries. Additionally, maintaining accurate payroll records using LCPtracker and collaborating with the HR department to ensure correct employee data is crucial. The role also includes assisting with internal and external audits related to payroll. Responsibilities + Process weekly payroll for construction employees (union and nonunion). + Calculate hours, commissions, bonuses, and deductions. + Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and reporting requirements. + Prepare and submit Certified Payroll Reports and Statements of Compliance. + Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer employee payroll queries. + Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records using LCPtracker. + Collaborate with the HR department to ensure correct employee data. + Assist with internal and external audits related to payroll. + Handle union and nonunion reporting. Essential Skills + 2 years of experience in payroll processing. + Experience in the construction industry. + Proficiency in payroll processing and certified payroll. + Knowledge of prevailing wage and LCPtracker. + Understanding of union vs nonunion payroll practices. + Strong data entry skills. + Knowledge of payroll tax, deduction, and reporting. + Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation required. + Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a payroll position within the construction industry. + Strong knowledge of the Davis-Bacon Act and related labor laws. + Proficiency in payroll software, preferably Sage. + Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail. + Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Work Environment This position operates in a fully onsite construction environment with a corporate office. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. The dress code is business casual. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
