PURPOSE STATEMENT
Payroll Specialist is assigned a specific geographical area of employees to process bi-weekly payrolls and respond to inquiries
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Process bi-weekly payrolls 50%
Respond to inquiries 25%
Reconcile payrolls 15%
Prepare reports 10%
• Inputs data from time sheets, production records, or individual timecards to computerized payroll system.
• Reviews payroll documentation for accuracy through audit reports and makes any necessary adjustments
• Perform comparison report after transmission of payroll, comparing current vs. prior payroll to audit discrepancies prior to the pay date
• Answer telephone promptly and courteously
• Versed in responding to questions and execute requests within compliance of federal and state guidelines as well as Payroll policies
• Consistently verify all necessary approvals for any pay requests
• Responsible for obtaining the necessary approvals, as required
• Research and resolve questions from managers and employees relative to the processing of payroll information such as PTO, direct deposit, pay cards, retro pay calculations, tax questions, etc.
TECHNICAL/FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES
Technical – Use standard software, hardware & technology of work unit - Proficient
List required software, hardware & technology of the work unit
• Experience with ORACLE HR/Payroll and timekeeping systems a plus
• Microsoft Office

• Assist in special projects as assigned by management

• Knowledge of payroll related rules, regulations and policies
• Detailed oriented with good problem-solving skills.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED required Bachelor's Degree – Preferred
EXPERIENCE:
2 – 3 yrs
