Job Title: Payroll Specialist
Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to maintain our payroll system and employee pay records. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of federal and California state wage policies, procedures, and regulations. You will be responsible for reviewing and auditing timesheets, preparing paychecks, processing withholdings and deductions, and resolving payroll-related issues. Your role will also involve supporting internal and external audits and working closely with the HR team to ensure timely benefits enrollment and payroll deductions.

ResponsibilitiesMaintain the Paylocity payroll system and employee pay records.Post and distribute time and attendance records.Review, audit, and correct timesheets.Prepare and distribute paychecks.Prepare and file required reporting documents, including quarterly reports and annual ACA and W2 reporting.Audit and reconcile employee timesheets for completeness and accuracy.Prepare pay records for posting to the general ledger and reconcile payroll records.Research and resolve payroll-related general ledger issues.Process withholdings, deductions, wage garnishments, overtime, stipends, commissions, bonuses, benefits, garnishments, 401k, and direct deposits.Manage changes affecting net wages such as exemptions and insurance coverage.Prepare payroll tax deposits and process forms for benefits administration.Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries and issues.Track and determine regular pay and overtime pay.Process checks for resignation, termination, and severance.Support internal and external audits and prepare month-end journal entries related to payroll.Ensure timely benefits enrollment and payroll deductions in coordination with the HR team.Distribute W-2 forms and process employment verification.Stay current with FLSA, Wage Orders, and other regulations governing payroll administration.Essential SkillsExperience with Paylocity or ADP Workforce Now.Full cycle payroll processing for 230 employees.Knowledge of FLSA and multi-state payroll.Experience with non-exempt payroll processing.Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting, business administration, or related field.Minimum of 7 years of payroll processing experience or an associate degree with 10 years of payroll processing experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsExtensive knowledge of federal and California state wage and hour compliance.Comfortable working with G Suite and Microsoft Office.Strong organizational and analytical skills with great attention to detail.High level of integrity and professionalism.Excellent time management and communication skills.Work Environment

This is a hybrid position (Mon/Wed/Thurs in the office) with flexible start times (8, 8:30, or 9:00 AM). You will be seated in an open area outside the HR Director's office. We offer generous pay with a yearly bonus, health, dental, and vision benefits, 28 days of PTO per calendar year, 9 holidays, company holiday shutdown, 401k matching, $50/month for phone bills, and tuition reimbursement. Additionally, we provide free lunch on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Our company is in major growth mode and continues to exceed goals.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
