PBX On Call/Per Diem

Position Overview:

Receive and dispatch incoming calls through the PBX console in an expedient, accurate, and professional manner. Respond to emergency alarms. Disperse information; utilize pagers and overhead page as appropriate.

Job Description:

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Utilize call processing software
• Access appropriate screen in PBX application to find needed information
• Enter appropriate information
• Search and highlight needed information
• Access Operator notes and update when needed

Answer calls
• Answer calls appropriately and quickly
• Answer calls in a professional and courteous manner
• Converse with caller to ascertain their needs

Dispatch calls
• Dispatch calls quickly, with error-free accuracy
• Offer number to caller or use VAT when appropriate
• Confirm caller’s needs are met.
• End call courteously and professionally

Perform other duties as assigned.
• Change out pagers
• Utilize electronic on-call information
• Report needed database changes

Provide overhead and beeper paging
• Receive request to page
• Evaluate appropriateness of request
• Perform page function and log

Obtain interpreter services.
• Receive request for interpreter service (foreign language or sign language)
• Contact the appropriate agency for service
• Schedule interpreter if appropriate
• Log occurrence

EDUCATION

Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.HS Diploma or general education degree or equivalent education/experience


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

Two years experience with the main/primary job function as a PBX Telephone Operator or Call Center Representative.Ability to type 35 wpm.Two years experience with Windows, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.Experience in medical/healthcare field desirable.


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Medical terminology desirable.Good ability to spell common words/names.Excellent customer service skills, demonstrating friendliness, empathy, compassion, and courtesy.Effective communication skills.Tone of voice must be clear, must use appropriate non-slang vocabulary.Active listening skills.Individuals applying for Casual positions must demonstrate excellent availability to work, maintaining availability for at least half the shifts during a week.

Pay Range is $26.77 to $33.88 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled.
