Weston Hospital's Telemetry Unit cares for cardiac patients and monitors their heart rhythm. Caregivers in this unit may clean and shave a patient's skin to place electrodes, replace electrodes daily, change batteries in a telemetry device, help someone when their monitor's alarm sounds and explain telemetry to patients. **A caregiver in this position works Nights, from 7:00pm-7:30am.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Assist nursing caregivers, promote patient comfort, carry out nursing orders + Transport patients by wheelchair, bed or stretcher from the department/unit. + Conduct EKG and phlebotomy duties. + Attend to patient and family needs and problems. + Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as dressing, bathing and hygiene. + Report pertinent information regarding patient condition to appropriate nursing staff. + Assist patients with tray set up and feeding. + Restock supplies daily and order supplies from Central Supply. + Document care provided in the medical record. + Collect and transport specimens. + Provide RNs/LPNs with accurate and timely intake/output data, vital signs, blood glucose results and other data, note changes from prior measurement and communicate accordingly. + Respond to call lights within five minutes or communicate inability to do so. + Report patient needs to an RN/LPN immediately. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + High school diploma or GED. + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period. + Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) prior to hire. Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Graduate of an approved program for nursing assistants or previous hospital training. + Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Click the link and see how we're dedicated to providing what matters most to you: https://jobs.clevelandclinic.org/benefits-2/ **Physical Requirements:** + The position requires a considerate amount of physical work not to exceed 50 pounds. + Any workload exceeding 50 pounds will require assistance. + The individual will be required to pull up or reposition patients in bed, lift supplies, place equipment or supports, and push beds throughout the hospital. + The individual must be able to bend over to perform certain duties such as check chest tube drainage, check urine output, etc. + The individual must be able to quickly maneuver throughout halls, stairways and patient rooms in response to hospital emergencies. + Interpretation of environmental input requires visual and auditory skills. + In the event there is a need to evacuate the building, heavy lifting will be required to carry patients to safety. + Mental Demands: Ability to work at a fast pace and to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests; ability to resolve conflicts among staff and to work collaboratively with department director, physicians and other members of the Healthcare team; ability to ensure operational efficiency; ability to problem solve and make decisions; ability to exercise self control and tolerate stress when dealing with multiple requests and/or conflicting demands from multiple customers. + Special Demands: Essential Sensory requirement - ability to visually assess patients and implement plan of care. + Essential Technical/Motor Skill - finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination are necessary when charting, using equipment, and providing direct patient care. **Personal Protective Equipment:** + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
