Join our team! Clarivate is seeking motivated Patent Analysts to work with us in support of a contract with the US Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO). As a Patent Analyst, you will be responsible for performing a comprehensive search and written opinion on the patentability of an array of diverse technologies.
About you – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments
Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas:Computer Science and Information Sciences – Computer architecture, software, network architecture and communication, data processing, IT security, audio/video editing, image processing, etc.Business Methods – Electronic commerce, financial transactions, electronic gaming, health care management, point of sale systems, etc.Telecommunications and/or Electrical Communications – Television, radio, telecommunications, GPS, electrical interface devices, wireless communications, optical communications, digital signal processing, etc.Physics and electrical engineering- Optics, semiconductors, fabrication, VLSI design, electrical circuits. At least 1 year of previous patent examining or patent searching experienceAt least 1 year of experience developing search methodology and conducting searches using databases such as ProQuest Dialog and IP.comMust be a U.S. citizen or work-eligible legal resident who has continuously resided in the U.S. for at least the two previous yearsAbility to obtain a Public Trust ClearanceIt would be great if you also had
Master’s or PhDAt least 3 years of previous patent examining or patent searching experienceIn-depth knowledge of technical literature in the areas of engineering, software, and business methodsDemonstrated work experience in roles requiring a high level of attention to detailStrong time management skills and dependability in completing quality projects against deadlinesWhat will you be doing in this role?
On a weekly basis, accept projects with a defined due dateDemonstrate the ability to read a disclosure quickly and understand the technical nuances which may potentially distinguish it from the prior artPerform a comprehensive search to ensure the most relevant prior art is located and provide a logical and complete search historyPrepare a written opinion applying the most relevant prior art to the disclosureMaintain proficiency with commercial patent searching databases and other proprietary databases of technical publicationsStay abreast of best practices and changes to search procedures via self-directed review of materials provided by ClarivateMaintain consistent timeliness and superior quality of deliverablesEnsure compliance with Clarivate’s Code of Business Ethics and Corporate ConductAbout the team
Our team has supported the USPTO by providing PCT Chapter I Search and Examination services since 2005 (formerly as Landon IP and CPA Global).
Hours of Work
This is a full-time, permanent position
This position is fully remote working in the United States
Compensation - US Only
The expected base salary for this position is a base salary of $50,000 USD per year with eligibility for productivity earnings. Individual pay is based upon experience, education, skill and ability, expertise, and relevant factors.
