A Patient Care Tech (PCT) provides patient care and other duties under the supervision of a licensed nurse or other medical staff.

\n

What can you expect to do as a PCT?

\n\nCollect and record patient Data, record vital signs and assist patients with activities of daily living (ADL)\nAnswer call lights and complete patient rounds\nAssist with completing/maintaining files and forms for admission, transfer, and discharges.\nTaking care of patient personal hygiene and assist with patient clean up.\nComply with Baylor Scott and White policies and procedures.\n\n

What will make you successful as a PCT?

\n\nCompassion – This is both a physically and emotionally demanding job.  Compassion for patients is one of the biggest factors in becoming successful.\nCommunication – Clear communication with patients and staff, both verbally and in writing.\nPositive attitude – You will see people in some of their worst moments.  Having a positive attitude can help brighten the lives of those you care for.\nTeamwork – The ability to work with other healthcare professionals, such as nurses and physicians, is the key to provide better patient care. \n\n
