Independently provide and present innovative formulas meeting customer requirements.
Lead selected development and customer programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:Supports customers in the development of cost effective, stable products, utilizing flavors, flavor systems and/or specialty ingredient products.  Completes relevant stability testing, costing estimates, documentation and commercialization. May accompany account managers on sales calls as technical support; will have direct customer interaction, through email, phone calls &/or face-to-face meetings.May reduce formula costs on existing products, completing necessary stability and commercialization efforts, to optimize efficiencies and margins.May utilize internal team functions to support development of products – sensory, marketing, analytical, etc.May participate in ideation, descriptive panels, design thinking / rapid prototyping, etc  as a means of product developmentMay provide technical representation to cross-function / strategic focus teamsEvaluates and recommends new sources of raw materials and laboratory tools.Updates and maintains related documentation pertaining to products, processes and customers (i.e. demos/tasting sheets, etc).May support production runs for select customers and/or projects; issues summary reports for each run.With the assistance of Technical Services, trouble-shoots any issues regarding formulations/manufacturing procedures, etc; makes recommendations and implements them based on trouble-shooting research.May direct lab technicians in execution of work.Completes work on time and accurately.Understands and continues to acquire product processing and ingredient/ingredient interaction knowledge.Performs multiple tasks daily, with the flexibility of re-arranging daily workload to accommodate higher priority needs.Must remain aware of industry trends, and have the ability to relate those trends into commercializable products.Follows basic GMP, ISO Procedures, GLP, Safety, Lab Notebooks and/or other electronic record keeping tools.Ensures screened flavors have all Application Data stored in WILDWare, for each application.Performs other related duties and assignments as required.Key Technical Skills and KnowledgeBS or higher with 6-8 years’ experience (Food Science or related) or High School Diploma or Associate Degree, with 9+ years’ experience.Solid Mathematical Skills – The individual is comfortable with basic calculations, ratio scaling, fraction proportioning, percentage calculations, along with graphing techniques, predictive modeling, etc.Solid Scientific Skills – The individual is comfortable with common scientific terminology, basic chemistry terms and concepts, basic human physiology, along with intermediate Chemistry and Biology knowledge including chemical elements, compounds, reactions and terminology.Solid Food Science Skills – The individual is comfortable with basic food science principles, including knowledge of food chemistry, lipids, carbohydrates, proteins and the principles of food processing.Computer Skills – The individual is comfortable with computer usage, internet access, Microsoft WORD, EXCEL and Email ( or similar program) usage, along with ability to create, edit, manipulate WORD and EXCEL files as well as basic presentation development using PowerPoint or other.Teamwork Skills – The individual has ability to work closely within a team with productive results. Able to share workload with others. Able to communicate in a friendly yet business appropriate manner.Project Management Skills – The individual is capable of planning, organizing and managing the efforts to accomplish a successful project; a project is a one-time activity that produces a specific output.Industry Knowledge – The individual has basic knowledge of target industry including key companies, technologies, cost and geographical factors. Appropriate understanding of consumer drivers.Analytical Skills – The individual is comfortable with basic instrument calibration, usage and reporting skills.Problem Solving Skills – The individual is capable of problem/root cause identification, alternative solution consideration and ultimate recommendation and selection of workable solution.Written Skills – The individual is able to prepare basic business and Email correspondence with appropriate word selection and usage.Verbal Communication Skills – The individual is capable of clear verbal communication to supervisors, managers, team members and business contacts.
