Hatch is seeking a Mechanical Designer Student with interest in Mechanical design. Reporting to the Mechanical Discipline Lead Engineer or Discipline Lead Designer you will support projects globally working from the Mississauga office. 

We are looking for young designers eager to be involved in complex small and large-scale projects, and able to demonstrate their keen problem-solving skills in developing practical solutions. The candidate must be a self-motivated individual capable of working both independently and within a team environment.

Responsibilities: 

Work independently to apply design principles for 3D models and 2D mechanical equipment, general arrangement drawings of facilities and processes.  Work collaboratively to share the results of your work with senior members of the discipline and/or other Hatch groups  Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering task for municipal infrastructure projects Develop 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical equipment.  Become knowledgeable of various mechanical equipment, various design tools, piping system design, discipline workflows, and industrial components/processes.  Participate in office and site safety training and inductions as needed to support office and site activities  Assist in CAD design of municipal infrastructure including sewer, watermains and roads, and other related work Perform field verification, and provide field support during construction 

  

Education and Experience:  

Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering Technology co-op program at an accredited college. Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community  Previous relevant co-op and summer work terms or internships in Mechanical or Piping design is an asset  Understanding or experience with layout development of industrial facilities is considered an asset  Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering task for municipal infrastructure projects Assist in CAD design of municipal infrastructure including sewer, watermains and roads, and other related work Coordination with other technicians and related disciplines to produce design deliverables Compilation of design drawings Preparing design submissions and other technical documents Assistance of Senior Municipal Engineers and Designers as and when needed
