We are looking for a teacher who can: Work with the treatment team to address student physical fitness needs Create individual lesson plans for each group of students and address individual physical ability levels Creatively establish lessons and activities that follow the guidelines of a psychiatric hospital and engage students in physical activities, while fulfilling the requirements of GADOE State Standards for Physical Fitness Laurel Heights Academy is a department of Laurel Heights Hospital, a residential treatment facility located in Atlanta, Georgia. Laurel Height’s teachers are responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the classroom, including establishing the curriculum and daily activities for the patients in the classroom. This is a new position with room for growth, autonomy, and creativity. Laurel Heights Hospital is an intensive Residential Treatment/Acute and Autism Spectrum Disorders Program for children and adolescents. We serve and treat psychiatric and behavioral difficulties and co-occurring psychiatric issues. We provide a caring, therapeutic setting with various therapeutic modalities and applied behavior analysis services. Our classrooms are small, with support staff to assist with classroom management.
