Department of Pediatrics - Infectious Diseases

The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Allergy, Immunology and Infectious Diseases, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, UT Health San Antonio, are recruiting for an academic full-time faculty Pediatric Infectious Diseases physician at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The selected candidate will join a growing division, with an opportunity for division leadership based on experience.

Responsibilities include inpatient consultations at University Hospital in various settings including Emergency Department, Level 4 NICU, PICU, and Cardiac Care Unit, and provide support to the solid organ transplant service. The Infectious Disease physician will also provide outpatient services for hospital follow-up care and community referrals. The division includes specialty clinic services for congenital infections and HIV with opportunities in these areas depending on the interest of the candidate.

Applicants must have an M.D., D.O. or equivalent degree. Qualified candidates should have completed a Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship and passed or be eligible for the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Board exam.

Key aspects of the position are excellence in clinical care and dedication to education for Pediatric Residents and medical students. In addition to a collaborative program with the UT Infectious Disease Pharmacy program, we work closely with external partners including public health authorities, the regional tuberculosis program, and health centers in the south Texas referral catchment area. The physician will also participate in Infection Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship programs. There are several collaborative NIH-funded clinical and translational research opportunities in partnership with the general Infectious Diseases division.

We will prioritize a candidate with experience or interest in transplant infections with funding support from our transplant program. Spanish language proficiency and experience with underserved populations preferred.
