The Autism Discovery Institute (ADI) is an innovative outpatient facility that offers therapeutic supports and diagnostic evaluations for autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders alongside ongoing research, training for professionals, and community advocacy.
The primary role of the pediatric clinical psychologist AP at the ADI is to conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for children and adolescents. The psychologist is responsible for independently administering, scoring, and interpreting psychological measures, counseling families regarding findings, and developing recommendations for educational and therapeutic supports. The psychologist must have training and expertise to complete standardized assessment batteries across the entire age range (12 months to 17 years) served at ADI. Psychologists on our team have specific expertise in completing high-quality evaluations for autism spectrum disorder and have the expertise to complete differential diagnoses across the clinically referred population. While diagnostic evaluations are the primary role of the position at the ADI, psychologists who have a strong interest in providing therapy (e.g., CBT, social skills groups, PEERS) have the opportunity to do and are highly encouraged to apply.
Pediatric clinical psychologists AP at the ADI are provided the opportunity to collaborate with other providers across a variety of Developmental Services Programs at Rady Children’s Hospital. Psychologists participate in multidisciplinary teams with speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, neurologists, and other physicians to collaborate on assessment and diagnosis, and support treatment planning and ongoing recommendations. Opportunities for continuing professional development are offered through formal seminar series and team meetings at no cost. Additional funding and scholarships are available to pursue individual training or to attend conferences.
Our Mission: The Autism Discovery Institute seeks to empower children, teens, and families by providing collaborative, neurodiversity-affirming services. Through education, advocacy, and direct care, we build the foundation for fulfilling lives.
