Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a Pediatric Gastroenterologist to the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County. The Hospital is part of NYC Health + Hospitals. Kings County Hospital operates a world-renowned Level 1 Trauma Center, one of only three in Brooklyn, which serves 2.6 million residents of Brooklyn and Staten Island. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University to maintain its high healthcare delivery standards.
Kings County is a New York Health + Hospitals Corporation site in Brooklyn, NY which has a storied history and the benefit of recent full renovation. KCHC and SUNY care for primarily low income and minoritized patients, with a focus on improving health outcomes and specialty care for underserved communities. We are a research heavy academic division, aiming for faculty who are self-motivated and interested in developing a career as investigators, in particular in issues of health disparity or diseases disproportionately impacting the underserved. Responsibilities of attending physicians in the Division include supervising our enthusiastic Pediatric GI Fellows and Pediatric Residents in delivering subspecialty care at King’s County Medical Center, and call coverage of pediatrics floor at Kings County and SUNY DHSU, as well as teaching medical students. Endoscopic procedures, with full anesthesiology support, are performed at both hospital sites. If interested, opportunity for involvement in our Ped. This position provides ample protected time to pursue scholarly activities in an area of clinical interest with 3-5 expected half day clinic sessions/week. Faculty in the Pediatric GI Division are involved in a broad array of clinical and translational research initiatives, and we are well situated in a health sciences university with a strong population health, genomics, HIV, LGBTQ health, and research community. Applicants with interest in medical education may also be considered for important roles involving education of students or residents. Qualified candidates interested in this position will be board certified in Pediatrics and board certified/eligible in Pediatric Gastroenterology. Kings County is located in the East Flatbush/Prospect-Lefferts section of Brooklyn, close to the 2 and 5 subways. Our patients are diverse, with the majority being Afro-Caribbean. Most of our patients are native English speakers. Knowledge of French/Haitian Creole is helpful, but not required.
